Why a stone top beats laminate or ceramic in a UAE bathroom
In a UAE bathroom, heat, humidity and hard water wear out laminate and grout long before they touch a stone surface, so the counter is the part worth spending on.
A vanity sits in the wettest room in the house. Laminate edges lift once water reaches the chipboard core, and in Dubai that usually shows within two or three summers. Ceramic counters mean grout lines, and grout holds soap scum and limescale no matter how often you scrub. A stone top gives you one seamless surface, a polished basin cut-out and a front edge you can wipe in seconds.

Quartz vs natural granite for a vanity top in Dubai
For most UAE bathrooms quartz is the better default, because it needs no sealing and handles hard water spotting; granite costs less in basic colours but wants resealing.
- Engineered quartz in Super White, Black, Calacatta Miranda or Statuario Exclusive: non-porous, no sealing, colour repeats across slabs, soft veining. Budget roughly AED 900 to AED 1,600 per running metre for a fitted 20mm top, depending on colour and edge profile.
- Natural granite: harder and more scratch resistant, and dark colours hide water marks well. It needs a penetrating sealer at installation and a reseal every 12 to 18 months.
- Porcelain or sintered slab: thin and stable, useful in a small powder room, but the edges read sharper and joins are less forgiving.
- Solid surface: seamless and repairable and the cheapest of the four, but it scratches and a hot styling tool can leave a mark.

Finishes, thickness, edges, sizes and cut-outs
For most Dubai bathrooms a honed 20mm top with a mitred front edge gives the right balance of look, price and durability.
Honed or polished
Honed has a soft matte finish that hides water spots and fingerprints in daily use. Polished reflects more light and suits a powder room, but it shows every drop until you wipe it.
20mm or 30mm
Most jobs use a 20mm slab with a mitred front edge, which reads as 40mm from the front. A true 30mm slab costs more, weighs more, and needs a carcass built to carry it.
Single slab or jointed
One piece is always better. Above roughly 2,400mm you may need a join, and the neat place for it is at a basin or at the corner of an L shape. On a double vanity, book-matched pairs are worth the extra spend because the veining mirrors across both basins.
Sizes, offsets and cut-outs
- Standard runs: 600mm, 800mm and 1,200mm for a single basin, 1,500mm to 1,800mm for a double
- Wall to wall: any length, with a scribe allowance so out of square walls do not leave a gap
- Plumbing: we cut around your existing waste and supply positions instead of rerouting them
- Tap drilling: monobloc on a 35mm hole, three hole, or wall mounted mixers with no deck holes at all
- Basins: an undermount needs a CNC cut with a polished reveal, a vessel basin needs a 45mm waste hole

Care and sealing in Dubai's climate
Quartz tops need no sealing, granite and porous stone tops need resealing every 12 to 18 months, and hard water is what ages a top fastest here.
Water from the DEWA supply is hard, so a drop left on a polished counter dries into a white ring. Wipe the top dry after use and use a pH-neutral bathroom cleaner. Skip abrasive creams, vinegar, lemon and any limescale remover that warns against stone. Blot oils quickly on granite. Before you pay a deposit, ask for the warranty on the top and on the installation in writing, and keep the sealer type on file so a future reseal matches.

A free measure, a 1:1 drawing you approve, a build in our Jebel Ali factory, and installation anywhere in the UAE in about 14 days.
- Free site measure. We check wall lengths, floor level, waste and supply positions, door swing and mirror height, and photograph the room.
- Drawing. You receive a 1:1 shop drawing showing sizes, basin position, tap holes and edge detail.
- Approval. Nothing is cut until you sign off that drawing, which is what makes a bespoke vanity predictable.
- Factory build. The carcass is made in Jebel Ali and the top is machined to the approved drawing.
- Check fit. Drawers, runners, hinges and cut-outs are tested before delivery.
