What made to measure actually means in a UAE bathroom
Standard units come in fixed widths of 600mm, 800mm, 1000mm and 1200mm, a depth of about 460mm, and a basin already drilled into the top. A made to measure vanity unit in Dubai is the opposite. Step 1: templating your bathroom
We measure wall to wall at three heights, check the floor fall and record every pipe, socket and boxing before anything is drawn. The waste and soil pipe position decides the layout. In most UAE apartment bathrooms the soil pipe sits in a corner boxing, so a centred basin often means a drawer bank that cannot open fully. We measure the boxing, the door swing, the shaving socket and the mirror line, then place the basin where the pipe allows and the room looks balanced.

Step 2: your approved drawing, built 1:1
Every vanity is built 1:1, full scale, to the drawing you approve first. The drawing carries a front elevation at actual size, the plan view with pipe positions, basin and tap hole centres, the door and drawer split, and handle heights. Nothing goes to the machine until you say yes. If a tap hole has to move 20mm because the mixer body clashes with a drawer front, you see it on paper, not on site.

Step 3: carcass, finish and top choices for UAE humidity
Bathrooms here stay humid while air conditioning keeps the air cool, so moisture sits on surfaces. Marine grade plywood is the safest carcass for a wet zone because the glue line survives damp. HMR MDF suits a guest bathroom or a dry vanity and paints to a smoother finish. We seal every cut edge and sit the unit on adjustable legs rather than straight on the floor.
For the top, quartz is the practical pick. It is non-porous, needs no sealing and copes with daily cleaning. Standard options include Super White, Black, Calacatta Miranda and Statuario Exclusive, with natural stone where you want real veining. The top is cut after the carcass is confirmed, so the overhang and basin cut-out match the approved drawing exactly.
Step 4: the 14 day build and installation day
Production takes about 14 days from approved drawing to a wrapped, finished unit. The carcass is cut, assembled, edge banded and sprayed or veneered, and the top is machined to your template. Installation is normally one day. We check the floor level, set the unit on adjustable feet, fix it back into solid blockwork where possible, connect the waste and water, seal the top to the wall with anti-mould silicone, and test the tap and waste before leaving. The same crew that built the unit fits it, and installation covers the whole UAE rather than Dubai alone, so a job in another emirate travels with the same drawings and the same fixings.
