Small bathroom vanity Dubai: made to measure, made to fit

Retail vanities are built to a 600mm depth and a width from a short list. Bathrooms are not. The units that work in tight Dubai bathrooms are cut to the actual wall in a factory in Jebel Ali and installed across the UAE, with the waste pipe worked around rather than moved.

Why retail vanities fail in tight Dubai bathrooms

Most apartment bathrooms here were planned around the shower. The vanity gets the leftover wall, and it is rarely 60, 80 or 100cm. You measure 73cm. An 80cm unit hits the door, and a 60cm one leaves 13cm of dead space that nothing fits, finished off with a filler panel you notice every morning.

Then the waste. Retail basin, trap and drawer boxes are all fixed before anyone looks at where the water actually goes. On a 100cm unit the drain is drilled for the centre. Your pipe sits 5cm off, so a drawer gets cut on site or the trap stays visible every time the door opens.

Measure these five things before you buy anything

Do this with a tape and photograph each measurement.

  1. Finished wall-to-wall width at counter height, not at the skirting. Tiles and plaster move by a centimetre or more.
  2. Wall to the front of the basin, so you can stand and use it with the door shut behind you.
  3. The centre of the waste, measured from the nearest side wall, not from the middle of the room.
  4. Tap position, whether wall-mounted or sitting on the counter, and its distance from the basin centre.
  5. Door swing and shower screen clearance. This rules out more designs than the other four.

A 5cm offset on the waste is not a small thing. It moves the basin, shrinks the drawer box beside it and decides whether your drawers pull out or stop against the door frame. Get that number wrong and the layout changes after the cabinet is made.

Depth, waste and water: what a made-to-measure carcass works around

A standard unit is 60cm deep. A shallow depth bathroom vanity at 45cm is often the only way to open the bathroom door. In a narrow bathroom vanity Dubai layout, those 15cm decide whether the door clears or scrapes the counter twice a day.

Depth changes the basin. Deep rectangular basins need room. A 45cm carcass suits a compact vessel or a slim under-counter basin with a narrower tap deck. We size the carcass to the space first, then pick the basin for it.

Then the pipe you cannot move. Lifting the floor to re-centre a waste means waterproofing, retiling and a bill nobody budgeted for. So the carcass is drawn around the existing waste instead. Back panels are notched, drawer boxes are sized to clear the trap, and the top is cut for the real position of the pipe.

Powder rooms, low sills and storage in a small footprint

A powder room vanity in Dubai is usually solved by going low and hanging the cabinet on the wall. Fixings decide whether that works. Blockwork takes resin anchors. Plasterboard or drywall needs a timber or steel rail fixed into the studs first, with the cabinet hung from the rail. We ask which the wall is before anything is cut.

Under a window, the top has to stay below the sill. That pushes the unit down and usually makes it shallower. Drawers beat doors there, because a drawer needs only the pull while a door needs room to swing.

Storage in a small footprint is layout, not volume. Drawer-only units open fully and show everything at once. Internal dividers stop bottles falling over each other. A mirror cabinet with the socket recessed inside keeps the charger off the counter.

What a made-to-measure small vanity costs in the UAE

A made to measure compact vanity in the UAE with a stone top runs AED 6,000 to 8,000 all-in: design, carcass in your chosen material, the stone top, the basin and installation. A compact single vanity sits at the lower end of that range.

A wider run, a second basin, a top with two cut-outs instead of one, or a stone that has to be matched across a joint all push a job up the range. The shape of your room should not. If a price climbs because your waste sits 8cm off centre, you are paying for a standard unit with an awkward cut, not for custom work.

Ask for a written quote that lists carcass, top, basin and install as separate lines. We do not price from a photo. Every vanity is built 1:1, full scale, to the drawing you approve first, so width, waste position, drawer layout and top cut are all settled before the factory starts. Build and finish take about 14 days, and units leave our factory in Jebel Ali for any of the seven Emirates.

For a price on your room, send us your bathroom dimensions for a fixed quote on WhatsApp. Send one straight-on photo of the wall, one of the waste with a tape across it, one with the door open, and one of the window or shower screen. Add the five measurements above and say which emirate the flat or villa is in. WhatsApp is the fastest reply.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make a vanity 55cm wide?

Yes. Width is the easiest dimension to change because the carcass is cut to your measurement. A 55cm unit usually means one compact basin and a narrow drawer stack beside it. Measure wall to wall at counter height, not at the skirting.

Will a 45cm deep unit take a standard basin?

Most full-depth rectangular basins leave no usable tap deck on a 45cm carcass. A compact vessel or a slim under-counter basin fits properly. We fix the carcass size first and choose the basin to match it.

Do you install outside Dubai?

Yes. We build in Jebel Ali and install across all seven Emirates. The unit follows the same approved drawing wherever it goes.

Can the top be cut for an off-centre waste?

Yes, and it is the usual reason a made-to-measure unit gets ordered. The top is cut to the measured centre of the waste, and the carcass is drawn around the trap so no drawer is blocked.

Is a wall-hung vanity safe on plasterboard?

On plasterboard we fix a timber or steel rail into the studs first and hang the cabinet from that. Blockwork takes resin anchors. Tell us what the wall is and we specify the fixing before the unit is made.
